ALICIA CASALS (Multirobot coordination at Technical university of Catalonia, UPC)

Industrial Engineer, Professor at UPC. Research on medical robotics, both surgery and assistive technology. Leading the robotics and computer vision group of the Center of Research in biomedical engineering at UPC. Founder of two companies related to robotics surgery.

UMBERTO CASTELLANI (Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Verona UNIVR)

He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Verona in 2003. He held visiting research positions at Edinburgh University and Universite' Blaise Pascal. His research is focused on 3D data processing in computer vision and graphics.

FABIO CUZZOLIN (Professor of Artificial Intelligence - Director of the Visual Artificial Intelligence Lab, Oxford Brookes University)

A laurea degree magna cum laude and a Ph.D. degree. Researcher at Politecnico di Milano, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and INRIA Rhone-Alpes, Grenoble and Oxford Brookes University. He founded the Visual Artificial Intelligence Lab in 2012, and promoted to Professor of Artificial Intelligence. He holds advisory positions with Huawei Technologies and Metacortex.ai.

ANDREW PAUL DENNISON (Biomedical Research Engineer & Projects Manager for the MRI Group at the University of Dundee - Institute for Medical Science and Technology)

Research interests include image guided therapies and robotics, computer aided design & manufacture, medical devices and measurement science. Degrees held in Cell & Proteomic Technologies (MRes 2011), Design for Medical Technologies (MSc 2008) and Mechanical Engineering (BEng hons 2007).

GIACOMO DE ROSSI (Ph.D. student in Computer Science University of Verona, UNIVR)

Master's Degree in Computer Science and currently enrolled in the namesake Ph.D. programme, Giacomo De Rossi is currently exploring ways to integrate deep learning techniques in control algorithms to advance the capabilities of robotic surgery systems.

FABIO FALEZZA (Research Assistant University of Verona, UNIVR)

Master degree in Computer Science (2019) at the University of Verona. He is currently working as reseach fellow in ALTAIR Robotic Laboratory in the Univesity of Verona. His research focuses on teleoperation of surgical robots and dynamics of delta robots.

Master degree in Computer Science and Automation Engineering (2012), Ph.D. in Science of Engineering, Automatic Control (2016) at the University of Ferrara. His research activities are focused on Robotics, Industrial Automation, Control Systems, Fault Diagnosis and Simulation of medical devices.

FEDERICA FERRAGUTI (Professor Assistant presso Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, UNIMORE)

A Managament Engineer with majors in robotics and automation and a PhD in Industrial Innovation Engineering, majors in Robotics. Her Research interests are: Human-Robot collaboration, Teleoperation, Control architectures for surgical robotics, Collaborative robotics.

STEFANO GRASSI (Innovation Manager, Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

Master’s Degree in Management of Research, Innovation and Technology at MIP Politecnico di Milano. He coordinate scientific needs with economic, organization and staff objectives.

ALBERT HERNANSANZ (Biomedical Engineering at Technical university of Catalonia, UPC)

Post Doc in Medical Robotics in the Research Center in Biomedical Engineering at UPC. Research in surgical robotics in assisted teleoperation and multirobot cooperation. Cofounder of Surgitrainer SL, company dedicated to robot trainers.

SABINE HERTLE (Project Engineer at Medineering - Surgical Robotics)

Msc in Mechanical Engineering with specialization on Biomedical Engineering and ergonomics, graduated in 2017 at the TU München. She is currently working as a project engineer at Medineering GmbH in Munich and is responsible for project management tasks as well as tasks related to Quality Management and Regulatory.

DINESH JACKSON SAMUEL (Post-Doc Researcher at Visual Artificial Intelligence Lab and Associate Lecturer)

A Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering with a focused research in Tuberculosis (TB) detection from microscopic images. He worked as a Research Associate in Vellore Institute of Technology University, India. His current research includes action recognition and anomaly detection in surgical robots.

GERNOT KRONREIF (Chief Scientific Officer bei ACMIT - Austrian Center for Medical Innovation and Technology)

PhD in Mechanical Engineering from TU Vienna, active in translational R&D since about 20 years - mostly in the areas of service robotics, medical robotics and instruments, and surgical training systems.

ALICE LEPORINI (Biomedical Engineer, Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

She won a scholarships at the Politecnico di Milano, she worked as a research fellow at the Grigioni’s Foundation (Milan) and at the University Hospital of Wuerzburg (Germany). Her research interests include kinematic, dynamic and muscular activity data acquisition and elaboration with infrared-based optoelectronic and electromyography systems.

YUTING LING (Biomedical Engineer & Postdoctoal Researcher, UNIVDUN)

A PhD (2018) and MSc (2013) in Biomedical Engineering and BSc (2012) in Biotechnology. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at an interdisciplinary Institute for Medical Science and Technology (IMSaT), University of Dundee. Her research interests include preclinical validation of novel imaging modalities, image guided therapies and robotic surgeries.

Graduated in Digital Communication in the Faculty of Science and Information Technology. Art Director, Web Designer, Game Designer, Storyteller, Videomaker, Visual and Motion Designer through use of professional instruments and powerful software for photo processing, vector graphics and video.

RICCARDO MURADORE (Assistant Professor at University of Verona, UNIVR)

A Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Padova. 3 years at the European Southern Observatory, Munich, Germany. He joined the ALTAIR Robotics Laboratory and became Assistant Professorat at the University of Verona. His research interests include robust control, robotics, teleoperation, networked control systems, and adaptive optics.

ELETTRA OLEARI (Head of socio-technological ecosystems Research, Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

Research scientist graduated at Politecnico di Milano in Nuclear Engineering (specialization radiation) in 2011. Her fields of investigation are cognitive robotics, human-robot interaction and child-robot interaction, innovative technologies for edutainment, robotic surgery, process reengineering, patient safety, risk analysis and applications for health and wellbeing user modelling.

ALBERTO SANNA (Director of the Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

He is deeply involved in European Research Framework Programs FP5, FP6, FP7 and Horizon2020. He coordinates international projects in three main areas: SMARTer and SAFer HOSPITAL, SMARTer and HEALTHIer LIFE and SMARTer and HEALTHIer CITY.

Nicola Piccinelli received his Master's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Verona in 2015. He is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the University of Verona, for which he is cooperating with the SARAS European Project. His research interests include control and robotics

FRANCESCO SETTI (Post-Doc Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Verona, UNIVR)

Post-Doc Research Fellow at the italian National Research Council (CNR), and earlier I was a Post-Doc Research Fellow, running the individual PAT-EU Cofund Marie Curie Action project ABILE at the Measurement Instrumentation and Robotics Group of the University of Trento.

MICHELA SEVERGNINI (Communication Manager, Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

INNA SKARGA-BANDUROVA (Post-Doc Researcher at Visual Artificial Intelligence Lab Oxford Brookes University, OBU)

Ph.D. degree Donetsk National University and D.Sc. degree in Information Technology Kherson Technical University, Ukraine. She is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and co-director of East Ukrainian Interdisciplinary R&D group on Health Informatics and Analytics. Her research interests are on artificial intelligence; data analysis and decision making.

VIVEK SINGH (Post-Doc Researcher at Visual Artificial Intelligence Lab Oxford Brookes University OBU)

His PhD is in Computer Vision and Deep Learning for facial expression analysis. His current research focuses on semantic segmentation and activity analysis for the surgical robotic assistant.

ALESSIO SOZZI (Research Assistant, University of Ferrara UNIFE)

Master degree in Computer Science and Automation Engineering (2018) at University of Ferrara. He is currently working as a research assistant in the Automation and Robotics group at the Engineering department of the University of Ferrara. His research focuses on motion control for robots in surgical operations.

DIANA TROJANIELLO (Head of bioengineering Research, Center for Advanced Technology in Health and Wellbeing at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele)

Bioengineer, Ph.D. got the BEng degree (2009) and Msc (2011) cum laude in Biomedical Engineering from the University Federico II of Naples, in Italy. She obtained the professional habilitation from the Order of Engineers in Naples. In 2015, she received the Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
